I knew Ellie would come right at the very moment she did. Well, I kind of hoped anyway. June is crazy. When I am on call in February, it’s generally no problem but JUNE? June is the peak of the spring season. I had a shoot in DC and weddings every weekend. Ellie was “due” to arrive on Father’s Day. We had a 3 day Indian wedding that week and a wedding at a Ranch about 40 minutes from the hospital. I probably checked my phone for a call from Sonni every 30 minutes. I was very open that I just KNEW I would crawl into bed Saturday night and would immediately get the call.
I didn’t even make it to the car. We were getting ready to load up when I got the “I think I may be in labor” text. I wanted to get to the hospital immediately. I just had this feeling labor would go fast… and fast it went. Truth be told, Ellie probably could have been born at 3am (she was born at 5:??am) Sonni labored down for 2 hours and one push when the doctor walked in and Ellie took her first breath.
Little Ellie, you are already such a gift. Your grandparents lit up like stars the moment they heard of your arrival and I don’t think the look of adoration on their faces could ever change. Your mom? She’s a rockstar. Her maternal instincts kicked in far before you were even born and when things got a little scary for a minute she knew what she had to do to make you safe… and she did. She put her nerves aside and protected her girl. Your dad? He loves you and your mom more than anything in this world. You look to him when you start thinking you want to date and find yourself a man who loves you the way your dad loves your mom. I promise you won’t go wrong.
Welcome to this world, sweet little girl!
